The Virginia QSO Party is sponsored by the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club (SPARC).It's objective is to promote amateur radio activity in Virginia's 95 Counties and 39 Independent Cities. VWS sponsors two plaques Virginia Club Combined Score (Virginia Stations Only) and Single Band (Any Single Operator Station).

The 2011 Virginia QSO Party will during the 3rd full weekend in March. 1800 UTC on Saturday, 19 March 2011 through 0100 UTC on Monday, 21 March 2011. We will be operating a Multi Operator / Multi Transmitter category, which is two or more operators with two or more transmitters on the air at one time. In the QSO Party, stations can operate Mixed Mode, in other words we can one transmitter for CW and the other running Phone. We can also have a transmitter on the air for VHF and UHF contacts. It's more like Field Day in this respect. Complete rules are available at the VA QSO Party 2011 Rules on the SPARC Website.

VWS will operate from the Annandale Swim and Tennis Clubin Annandale. The club is just inside the Beltway on Little River Turnpike. A big thank you to Tom (K4TCM) for providing this location for our use. This location was also used for NAQP CW in January of 2008 as well as last years VA QSO Party.. Antennas are usually a 160 Carolina Windom and a 80 meter Carolina Windom. This year we may also use a 80 meter full wave loop.
