Annual VWS Banquet, August 25, 2006. Wu’s Garden Restaurant, Vienna, VA
Our annual banquet was held for the 4th consecutive year at Wu’s Garden restaurant. Our thanks go to Jim Richey, AG4MA, for organizing the event. We had a great turnout this year, with 42 attendees including VWS members, spouses, friends and children. Everyone had a great time and the food was excellent and plentiful.
After dinner, VWS President Ray Albers, K2HYD, gave a presentation recapping all the club events that occurred during the past year. Ray told many stories about VWS operating events such as Field Day and NAQP, as well as the balloon flights, fox hunts, QRP, Winterfest, and picnics. Ray also noted, with sadness, the passing this year of Bernie Stuecker, K4XY, who will be greatly missed by his friends at VWS. Bernie was honored at this year’s Field Day, where his call was used by VWS for the event.
After his year in review presentation, Ray presented Pete Norloff, KG4OJT with the Vienna Wireless Society Outstanding Member Award for 2006. Congratulations to Pete for his well-deserved honor.
