The Vienna Wireless Society General Membership Meeting – Jul 9, 2010

 

Meeting Place: Oakton High School Auditorium

 

Jim, W4JTP formally opened the meeting at 7:30 pm

 

TOTAL ATTENDANCE: 29

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

  • Ray, KJ4CNN:
    • presented Field Day – 2010 final report
      • unofficial ARRL score is 10,360

 

  • Pete, KG4OJT:
    • announced that the 12-hr NAQP-SSB contest will be held at the Blue Mountain Estates
    • there are still 8 printed VWS Membership Directories available for $4 each to VWS Members
    • presented treasurer’s report 
      • the Club spent less than $1,000 on Field Day – 2010
        • Field Day expenditures were under budget

 

  • Pete, K6BFA:
    • NAQP-cw contest on 1st weekend in August will be held in his home
      • Members are invited to participate as operators, loggers or eaters-of-chocolate-chip cookies
    • still collecting QSL cards from Members for display
    • still looking for 1 volunteer for the refreshment committee

 

  • Terry, N4ZH:
    • Collecting outgoing QSL cards for the ARRL bureau

 

  • Ray, K5RJ:
    • is holding John Boyd’s W4WG Alpha 78 amplifier which is for sale.
      • asking price is $1,500.
      • contact Ray directly for additional information

 

  • Mike, K3MT:
    • announced that he is offering lots of FREE equipment – mostly electronic.

  • Kevin, N4KL:
    • announced that the “Solder-Something-And-Bring-It-In” Challenge will be held at the next meeting
      • Members are encouraged to bring in their projects whether they are finished or not

 

  • Jim, W4JTP:
    • Presented the 2009 VA QSO Party certificates to those Members who participated
      • Club distinguished itself as 2nd Multi-Op Station in the Virginia
      • Club distinguished itself as 1st Multi-Op Station in Fairfax County
