The Vienna Wireless Society General Membership Meeting - May 8, 2009

President, Jim, W4JTP formally opened the meeting at 7:40 pm .

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Tom, K4TCM updated the Membership on the Saturday, May 9 Fox Hunt at Lake Fairfax. Everything is set to go with Foxes and Rabbits ready for the hunt.  There will be plenty of food.  Fox and Rabbit frequency will be 146.565.
  • Bernie, N4JDF advised the Membership that preparations for Field Day 09 are progressing as planned with amny Club Members volunteering for the many Field Day positions available. 
  • Pete, KG4OJT announced that the June 12 meeting will be held in the Oakton High School Cafeteria instead of the regular Conference Room.  Additionally, VWS Board meetings will be held until further notice in one of the Oakton High School classrooms due to the early closing of the Oakton Library.
  • Pete, KG4OJT announced that copies of the printed Membership Directory are still available to Members for $4.00.
  • Pete, K6BFA announced that Field Day 09 Memorabilia had arrived.  Paid-up Members could pick up their Field Day T-Shirts, Hats and Pins anytime during the meeting.
  • Pete, K6BFA asked that VWS Members give him one of their blank QSL Cards which will be included on a display board that will be shown at VWS public functions.
  • Mike AE4R asked Members, who will be attending the upcoming Dayton Hamfest, to take pictures of their experience at the hamfest so that he may compile them for an upcoming Membership Meeting Presentation.

FREE GIVEAWAYS: Brian, WV4V donated free Three-Ring Binders to the Membership.  Thank you, Brian!

BREAK: 

  • Refreshments and caloric indulgences were provided by Bob, AJ4RS.

POST BREAK:

  • President Jim, W4JTP presented Tom, K4TCM with his winnings from the50-50 Contest.

MEETING PRESENTATION

  • Mike, AE4R, the Club's Program Committee Chair, introduced Field Day 08 Czar Rick Low, N6CY. Rick reviewed the Club's statistical standings compared to other US Amateur Radio Clubs.  He reviewed the many items in which the Club excelled and pointed to the very few where it could improve for Field Day 09

President, Jim, W4JTP formally closed the meeting at 9:06 pm
