VWS General Meeting Vienna Elementary School

The meeting was called to order by VWS Vice-President, Dennis Voegler, WA4QMS, at 7:35 PM.

Old Business.
Len Hook KG6ZR read the minutes from the May 11 meeting (approved).

Pete Norloff KG4OJT, Treasurer, sent a check for $285 to the Vienna PTA as a donation for use of the school's facilities. $100 from VWS and $145 from private donations.

John Transue, AF4PD, gave a repeater report. We have the new hard-line for the 2-m machine but it is not yet installed. John Birch KA4YMA will assist.

Gary Nelson, KI4EKM, Field Day Chairman, gave a report on FD sign-ups. Two stations so far: 40-CW and 40-Phone. K4TCM will organize food. The porta-john has been ordered.

New Business.
Tom Martindale, K4TCM described a 300 mW transmitter used for indoor foxhunts. He envisions hiding 5 of them to see how long it takes us to find them all.

The VWS on June 22 will be held at the Field Day site at Burke Lake Park.

Special Presentation Tonight.
Dr. Kerry Kingham, WA4BQM, "The Sun: Episode 3"

Kerry gave an excellent discussion on enhanced propagation phenomena. He described the earth's magnetosphere, the Van Allen belts, incoming solar wind particles, aurora, and the auroral cone. His presentation was highly intriguiging and included numerous colorful graphs and slides of the earth and sun.
