VWS General Meeting, April 27, 2007

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Parsons, W4JTP, at 7:35 PM.
Minutes from previous meeting: Len KG6ZR. Approved.

Old Business.
Pete Norloff, KG4OJT. VWS has raised $140 for the Vienna PTA “Fun Run.”

Jamestown Quadricentennial from QCWA are being sent out. Several VWS members have received them.

Jim Parsons, W4JTP.
Ray Johnson, K5RJ, is recuperating from his recent hip replacement surgery. Get well soon, Ray!

QRP to the Field. We will meet at Glyndon Park. Tom Martindal, K4TCM will be chairman. Bring rigs, antenaas, food side dishes.

New Business.
Gary Nelson, KI4EKM. Field Day Chairman. Sign-up for FD jobs on the sign-up board. Stations, cooking, set-up, tear-down.

John Transue, AF4PD.
Repeater Report. We received new feedline for 2-m machine, not yet installed. Repeater is experiencing a “popping” noise.

Mike Steussy, AE4R. 10-m Pow-wow Net. 28.444 MHz. AM night is always the first Thursday of the month.

Manassas Hamfest - 1st Sunday in June.

At the May 11 VWS Meeting, Dennis Bodson, W4PWF, ARRL Roanoke Division Director, will present a service award to Alan Bosch, KO4ALA.

Will is a member of VWS and was a driving force behind the recent ARISS contact.

Will gave an excellent discussion on model rockets and research rockets. He included descriptions of rocket engines, propellants, applications, ham radio payloads, and organizations.
