Meetings

The Vienna Wireless Society meets on the second and fourth Fridays of the month at the Oakton High School which is located at 2900 Sutton Road. Meetings start at 7:30PM. Refreshments will be served. Visitors are always welcome!

Directions to Oakton High School:

The school is located on Sutton Road, which intersects with Route 123. Take the Nutley Street exit off of Interstate 66 toward Vienna. Make a left onto 123 (heading South) and contine to the second traffic light. Make a left turn at Sutton Road and continue to a 4 way stop, just past ball fields on your right. Turn Right at the 4 way stop and park in front of the school (in large parking lot along the East side of the building). Look for door 2. Enter Door 2, and proceed to the Lecture Hall on the left.

    • updated Membership about recent NAQP SSB contest
      • 40 participants; 20 operators
      • record number of QSO’s

 

  • Pete, K6BFA:
    • asked Members for QSL cards that will be displayed at Winterfest 2010
    • updated Membership about recent NAQP cw contest
      • advanced as well as beginning cw operators participated
      • 292 QSO’s recorded

 

  • Ray, KJ4CNN:
    • updated the Membership about the February 28th Winterfest 2010

 

  • Tom, N4ZPT:
    • updated the Membership about the planning of the Marine Corps Marathon
      • registration for volunteers starts on June 1
        • on Marine Corps website
    • updated the Membership about Fairfax ARES
      • welcomes volunteer help
      • meet every 4th Tuesday of every month

 

  • Jim, W4JTP:
    • updated the Membership about the transfer of Club’s Repeater’s responsibilities
      • from John, AF4PD to Skip, KF4ZXX
      • thanked John, AF4PD for his exemplary service to the Club

    • Club’s Homebrew Challenge continues
      • not limited to cw transmitter; may be anything built by Ham
      • will be judged during first meeting of July
