In addition to the full membership mailing list used for the eRelay and
special announcements, we also host the following lists via Google Groups:
Please note that these mailing lists are intended for the Vienna Wireless
Society membership. If you're not already a member and you're interested in
joining one of our lists, please consider also becoming a club member. Dues are
quite inexpensive and an application form is available elsewhere on this web site.
VWS-General
This is our general discussion list. Anything of general
interest can be discussed here.
Balloon
Discussions about ballooning. We set this up to support our
balloon launch planning and operations. List traffic is high during the
immediate prep and launch window but otherwise quite low volume.
CW
This is a mailing list dedicated to discussions about CW, or
Morse code. This mailing list supports our CW Forum which helps those
interested in becoming proficient or more proficient with CW.
EME
This is a mailing list dedicated to discussions about EME, or
Earth-Moon-Earth communications (also known as moon bounce.) Other
very weak signal modes such as troposcatter, meteor scatter, and
low power beaconing may be discussed. Fairly low volume discussion
of technical details and planning for club EME attempts.
FieldDay
Field Day preparations are discussed on this list. Field
Day is our biggest club operation next to our Winterfest hamfest.
Halloween
We have an opportunity to help the Town of Vienna
again this year by providing communication support during the Halloween Parade.
Details will be provided here. If you can come help out on the Wednesday prior
to Halloween, please sign up for this list.
NAQP
The North American QSO Party is a twice-a-year contest we
participate in. We've operated out of the campground at Lake Fairfax in August
and out of Harpers Ferry, WV, Town Hill, MD, and Middleburg, VA in January. This mailing list
supports discussion of our NAQP and other operating events.
RDF
RDF stands for Radio Direction Finding. This list supports our
fox hunting operations. If you'd like to get involved in hidden transmitter
hunting, this one is for you.
SDR
This list is dedicated to discussions about software defined
radio, or SDR. This is also an appropriate list for discussions of
various digital communications modes especially those using computer
sound cards and associated applications.
Winterfest
This is a discussion group for our annual Winterfest hamfest, held on the last Sunday
in February at the Annandale campus of the Northern Virginia Community College.
To join any of our lists, click on the list name above. This will take you
to the Google Groups home page for the group where you can sign up to participate
and review past message traffic. After you join any of our lists, please post a
message to introduce yourself to the rest of the group.
If you need any assistance with the mailing lists, please contact Pete
Norloff, KG4OJT.
