The Vienna Wireless Society is an active club with events on the club

We will be having a planning meeting for the upcoming VWS-8 Balloon Flight which is
currently scheduled for May 1 (see below). The meeting will be in the library at Oakton High School
at 7:00 PM.

We'll be operating from Glyndon Park in Vienna.
Each operating team will make a crazy antenna of their choosing and then make
contacts in the contest. This event is being organized by Pete Hadley,
K6BFA.
QRP To The Field is always held the last Saturday in April.
Saturday, May 1, 2010 VWS 8 Balloon Flight
May 1, 2010
VWS will be trying for a high altitude flight. Keep looking here for updates and the
balloon reflector for news. This event is being organized by Mel Clarke,

Saturday/Sunday, June 26-27, 2010 ARRL Field Day, Burke Lake Park,
Fairfax County
This is the big operating event for the club each year.
Field Day remains one of the most fun exercises we do as a group. Setup begins
in the park around 5:00 PM on Friday with antenna setup. It restarts around 8:00
AM Saturday and proceeds through the start of On-Air Field Day operations at mid
day, through the night, and ends when everything is packed up and put away late
Sunday Afternoon. Our Field Day Chairman this year is TBD.
Field Day is
always held the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 1800 UTC Saturday and

Saturday/Sunday, July 17-18, 2010 CQ World Wide VHF Contest
Starting 1800 UTC Saturday, July 17, 2010 and Ending 2100 UTC
Sunday, July 18, 2010, VWS will set up a multi-station VHF operation on both 6
meters and 2 meters at a high point to me determined, probably in Shenandoah
National Park. Organizers are needed for this event.

The VWS Volunteers Picnic event is our chance to express our thanks to all of the club
members who volunteer their time which makes the Vienna Wireless Society an
active and fun club.
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 Halloween Parade, Vienna
This will be our sixth year in recent memory providing communications support to the
Vienna Halloween Parade. This event is a lot of fun and not a whole lot of work.
Be sure to charge up your HT and come out for this fun evening in downtown
Vienna. This event is organized by Pete Norloff, KG4OJT. The Vienna Halloween
Parade is always on the Wednesday before Halloween.
