Vienna Wireless Society
North American QSO Party
August 21-22, 2004

On August 21 and 22 2003, the Vienna Wireless Society will be operating in the North American QSO Party at Lake Fairfax Park, in group camping area "C". We will be operating Multi Operator Two Transmitter (this contest limits entrants to two transmitters.)

Rules for the contest are available here on the VWS page or on the National Contest Journal web page.

The contest starts at 2:00 PM local time on Saturday, August 21 and ends at 2:00 AM local time on Sunday, August 22. We will start gathering in the camp area at Lake Fairfax park starting at 9:00 AM on Saturday to set up the operating positions in tents, etc. We will be producing lunch and dinner in the park. At 2:00 AM when the contest stops, some or all of us will sleep in the park, pack up the equipment in the morning and head to a restaurant in Herndon for breakfast.

This event is being coordinated by Linda Thomas, AC4LT, and Pete Norloff, KG4OJT. Email addresses are [call sign] at arrl.net. Please contact Linda or Pete if you're interested in participating.

Our Park Use Permit is available online here.

This is the map of the camping area. Use it with the "G-8", etc. references in the other photos. (Click on the images to see a full sized image.) Please note that we have group areas G-7 and G-2 reserved for our activity. Please do not set up equipment outside of these two areas. We don't yet know if other campers will be in the other group areas.

From bath house, looking across road toward G-2 -- this is the biggest piece of sky in the campground.

Looking from G-2 area back toward bath house. Yes, it seems like there are a lot of photos of this bath house, but it was one of the only features other than trees...

Above the entrance in to Camp Area C are these ball fields and flat open space.

This is a very nice group area at the top of the hill with a view of the lake. This one is reserved for NAQP weekend, but it might be nice to operate here in the future.
